I like to read my journal entries for a second or third time, after I have had some time to reflect on the prompt. I got into the habit after I started using a CBT app that had reviewing past entries as part of its daily routine. That habit of rereading previous entries helped me remember what I'd written so that I could put it into practice more successfully. I really struggle absorbing and retaining information I see, hear or read, because my brain is so busy receiving pain signals, that it doesn't have a lot of capacity to fully focus on and absorb what I'm seeing, hearing or reading. It makes it extremely difficult to participate in my recovery process when I can't remember what I've worked on. How do I build on and incorporate these practices into my daily life if I can't remember what I'm learning?
Today I re-read July 10, 2024 from the above journal and thought I'd share.
